Villa Maria is located in Morosso, quarter of Quiliano, and it was built in 1875 by Mr. Queirolo and later on, in the seventies, it was bought by the Municipality of Quiliano to set all the administrative offices in it.
After the recent building of the new Town Hall, Villa Maria has got nowadays a representative function; it has become the elegant scenery for exhibitions, conferences, concerts, several cultural releases and wedding ceremonies.
Public can reach the picturesque Villa from Piazza della Costituzione first by going up typical stone stairs, then a white marble flight of steps, surrounded by age-old olive trees. The Villa is built according to a neoclassic style with Milanese elements.
The main entrance is similar to a pronaos. Therefore, definitely entering the building it is necessary to walk on a wonderful floral floor made up with little black and white stones. This very peculiar technique, typical of Liguria, is called risò.
The Villa is surrounded by an English-style garden rich in roses, palm trees, camellias, a Lebanese citron tree and a big and ancient yew tree, a protected species.
